We’re procastinators. We spent all of Friday in our hotel room pumping out the Tailor Made presentation for the next day’s workshop.

I think everyone knew the title change was coming, or at least we hope they did. We talked about three things and kept things brief:

1. Change is a Mindset
2. Get Inspired
3. Change can be Big and Small

(after the jump: workshop in detail, download PDF, and our gift!)

Change is a Mindset

“What we mean by ‘Change’ is a simple question that you should be asking yourself – ‘how can we be better?’ And this applies to every aspect of your club, from the minute details of running meetings to your public image and relationship with students on campus.”

Get Inspired

“Change doesn’t just happen because you feel that you need to be different. As we said before, it’s a mindset. And to cultivate a mindset of change, you need to open yourself up to be inspired. Adopt role model companies and nonprofit organizations – read up on their leaders and learn about some of the things that they do well; check news, magazines and blogs to see what’s going on in the world; look around your own campus at other groups or other Korean student groups around the country to see if they’re doing anything interesting; observe, take notes, and keep on thinking – can this or that be applied to making our club better?”

Example: Inspired by the NFL to brand big club events

Change can be Big and Small

“A story: When I was young, I was on the chubby side. My mother noticed my chubbiness and was not pleased. She decided to make a change. She stopped buying whole milk and switched to skim. Within six months, I shed quite a bit of weight and fewer kids picked on me at school. A very small change – to get the milk with the blue cap instead of the red – led to a significant change. It helped me to make more friends. Change doesn’t have to be drastic in order to be effective. It just has to be well thought out and executed properly.

Example: Montclair St. University KSA’s excellent photos

As part of our workshop, we also unveiled a new identity for University of Maryland College Park KSA, which we will discuss in a separate article.

And as a gift to all those who came, we handed out these “Best Club Ever” packets which we sealed in crisp brown envelopes with large stickers. We also stuck a photo of a “Failed gift idea” inside as well.

We had a great time in San Diego, and our audience was very attentive and asked great questions. In upcoming articles, we hope to answer some of these questions in detail.
